About Pueblo Health

This Is Public Health (video clip)

For more than 50 years, the Pueblo City-County Health Department (PCCHD) has provided public health services to tens of thousands of Pueblo County residents in an effort to build a healthier and more sustainable community. The general policies and operations of the department are vested in a five-member Board of Health appointed by the Pueblo City Council and Pueblo County Commissioners. A Director is appointed by the Board to oversee the operations of the department. With approximately 100 employees, the department’s primary functions and responsibilities are divided into four divisions, which operate with an annual budget of nearly $7 million.

The Pueblo City-County Health Department is committed to promoting the health and protecting the environment of the people of Pueblo County.

All local health departments exist for the common good and are responsible for demonstrating strong leadership in the promotion of physical, behavioral, environmental, social, and economic conditions that improve health and well-being; prevent illness, disease, injury and premature death; and eliminate health disparities.
