Emergency Medical Services
This program consists of the inspection and licensing of ambulances. There are five ambulance services that operate approximately 20 ambulance units within Pueblo County. This program indirectly affects all residents of Pueblo County, since they could potentially require the services of these emergency vehicles.
The legal authority appointing the Health Department as the agency responsible for enforcing the ambulance-licensing requirement is the Pueblo County Resolution 92-337.
Our main program objective is to assure through inspections and licensing that all Emergency Medical Services and ambulances are properly staffed and equipped. We do this by confirming that the staff of emergency medical services has the proper State Certification for their level of emergency medical practices. We also check ambulances to verify that they have the proper medical equipment and that items with limited “shelf lives” are not outdated.
Ambulance services must complete the following forms prior to inspection. There is a $100 licensing fee for private ambulance services that is payable at the time of inspection. Ambulance services representing municipalities are licensed at no charge. The required forms are located to the right of this page and a pre-inspection checklist is provided to ensure that all vehicles are equipped with the proper supplies.
