Pueblo Conservancy District
Composition: 9 Directors
Director Appointments: The Board of County Commissioners appoints 4 Directors, with initial terms of 4 years. Three Directors will represent and must reside in Pueblo County, but not located within City limits. One Director will represent and must reside within the Pueblo West Metropolitan District, and be a member or designee of the Pueblo West Metropolitan District Board of Directors. City Council appoints 4 Directors, with initial terms of 3 years, who represent and reside within Pueblo City limits. The Board of County Commissioners and the City Council jointly appoint one At-Large Director, whose initial term is 5 years.
Established: House Bill 14-1184 passed in April 2014 to take effect August 6, 2014, amending C.R.S. 37-3-101. This bill addresses Conservancy Districts that are organized for the purpose of preventing floods, clarifying Board vacancies and appointments, as well as increasing the Board of Directors for the Pueblo Conservancy District from 3 to 9 Directors.
Function: Pueblo Conservancy District serves to reduce flood risk through flood control and mitigation efforts.
