Each member of the Juvenile Review Board serves on one of two screening committees, which meet on an alternating basis as required.
Function: Prior to placement of a juvenile in a residential community placement, the Pueblo County Juvenile Review Board shall review the case file of the juvenile within fifteen (15) days from the date the referral is received. The Department of Human Services, Division of Youth Corrections (DHS – DYC) provides the following information for review: history of delinquent adjudication, social history, educational history, mental health treatment history, drug & alcohol treatment history and a summary of institutional progress. The Board will review the case file of the juvenile(s) and make a decision regarding community placement, taking into consideration the results of the objective risk assessment by DHS – DYC, the recommended needs of the juvenile and the public safety interest of the community.
