Veterans’ Service Officer

The role of the Pueblo County VSO is to assist veterans and their dependents regarding VA benefits to which they are entitled. The VSO advises and counsels veterans and their dependents in filing VA claims with the federal VA. The VSO also does nursing home visits, home visits to housebound and restricted institution visits. In addition, the VSO requests medical and military service records in support of VA claims and directs veterans to VA medical facilities as needed. The position also involves supervising other staff in the program and giving talks and presentations regarding veterans’ benefits to various groups.


Veterans' Assistant Service Officer

The role of the Pueblo County Assistant VSO is to assist veterans and their dependents obtain VA benefits to which they are entitled. The Assistant VSO advises and counsels veterans and their dependents in filing VA claims with the federal VA. The Assistant VSO also does outreach to homeless veterans by visiting homeless shelters and the community soup kitchen to assure that homeless veterans have the opportunity to apply for veterans VA benefits including VA medical benefits. In addition, the Assistant VSO requests medical and military service records in support of VA claims and directs veterans to VA medical facilities as needed. The Assistant VSO also acts as an advocate for veterans issues and helps promote VA benefits by giving talks and presentations regarding veterans' benefits to various groups.
