Anthony Nuñez

Anthony Nuñez entered into his second 4-year term in office on January 13, 2009 as a Pueblo County Commissioner for District #1. During his first term in office he also served as the Board Chair in 2007 and 2008. Commissioner Nuñez has indicated that his objectives are to ensure economic development, job security and to protect the environment; all concerns of the residents of Pueblo County and the State of Colorado.

Commissioner Nuñez’ life experiences are the foundation for his past and current community service efforts and he feels very fortunate to have had the opportunities to serve with many talented people on boards and commissions that are making a difference throughout Pueblo County.

Prior to his election, he served as the former Chairman of the Pueblo County Democratic Party, former President of the Pueblo Hispanic Education Foundation, and served on the David and Lucille Packard Foundation. He has also served on the Colorado State University-Pueblo Board of Directors, Pueblo Catholic Diocese Foundation, and was appointed to the 10th Judicial Performance Commission. More recently, he was acknowledged for the excellent job that he performed as the President of the City/County Library Board. Commissioner Nuñez is also very involved with the Sister City Commission and has traveled several times to Mexico to meet with dignitaries on economic development and immigration issues.

Currently, the commissioner serves on the following: Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce, Pueblo Economic Development Corporation, Pueblo Regional Building Authority, Sangre de Cristo Arts & Conference Center, Historic Arkansas Riverwalk Project (HARP), Pueblo Area Council of Governments (PACOG), National Association of Counties (NACo) Justice and Public Safety Steering Committee, Desert Hawk Authority at Pueblo West Management Board, Colorado Counties Legislative Steering Committee, Arkansas Basin Roundtable, Southern Colorado Economic Development District Board, Pikes Peak Chapter of the American Red Cross, Lower Arkansas Valley Water Conservancy District, and Senior Resource Development Agency.

Besides being a successful politician, Anthony is also a very successful entrepreneur in his own right. Anthony and his wife Clara have been married for over 30 years and have 4 grown children, Antoinette, Michael, Dayna, and Andrea, as well as five grandchildren, Reese, Christian, and Derek Anthony Milhone; Race J. Bowen and Tré Ortega.
