Employee Leave Benefits

Pueblo County Government recognizes the importance for employees to have time away from work.  Leave benefits provide financial compensation and accommodations for employees and their personal needs.  See below for paid leave benefits by category.

  • Sick Leave Donation  
    • If an employee experiences a Serious Medical Condition but they have not Sick or Vacation to subsidize their time off, they can request Sick Leave Donations from other employees who have a surplus. 
    • This is a voluntary benefit so no single employee is ever guaranteed Sick Leave Donations.
  • Bereavement Leave 
    • Pueblo County provides paid time off to an employee for the death of an immediate family member.
  • Paid Parental Leave  
    • Pueblo County provides four weeks of paid time off to an employee following the birth of their child for the purposes of bonding.
  • Vacation Monthly Accurals
    • Upon Hire  -  8 hours
    • After 5 yrs  -  12 hours
    • After 10 yrs  -  16 hours
    • New hires are eligible to use vacation time after six (6) months of continuous service with Pueblo County
  • Sick Leave
    • Upon Hire  -  8 hours
  • Retirement
    • All Regular Full-Time employees and Elected Officials are required to participate in the County's Defined Benefit Retirement Plan upon completion of one (1) month of continuous employment. 
      • A pre-tax deduction of 8.25% is deducted from pay for contributions. 
      • Pueblo County contributes 9.25% into the retirement Fund immediately.
      • Employees are 100% vested after 5 years of service, which provides the option upon termination to leave funds in the Plan for a deferred retirement, beginning at age 55 for the earliest option.
    • Supplemental Retirement
      • Employees have the option to enroll in a 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan.
