North Purcell Blvd. closure to begin Sept. 14

PUEBLO – The 1.8-mile section of North Purcell Boulevard between Fairbanks Drive and Interstate 25, in Pueblo West, Colorado, will be closed for up to 38 days beginning on Thursday, September 14 for an asphalt replacement project.  The recommended alternate route to access I-25 is Platteville Boulevard. 
Two variable message boards have been posted in the immediate area of the road closure on Friday, September 8.

Jail Task Force Comprehensive Report

PUEBLO – The Pueblo County Jail Task force believes a detox and substance abuse treatment center could play a critical role in helping reduce the surging population of the jail and help reverse some negative trends seen in the community.

This conclusion was revealed in the Jail Task Force’s comprehensive report, which was delivered to the public during a presentation at the Sangre De Cristo Arts Center, on Wednesday, August 30, 2017.

45-day North Purcell closure to begin after Labor Day

PUEBLO – The two-mile section of North Purcell Boulevard between Fairbanks Drive and Interstate 25, in Pueblo West, Colorado, will be closed for 45 days beginning on or after Tuesday, September 5 for an asphalt replacement project.


The recommended alternate route to access I-25 is Platteville Boulevard.  Pueblo County’s Engineering and Public Works Department realizes this closure will be inconvenient for some drivers and hopes drivers can remain patient as workers complete the project to make the future drive smoother. 


Pueblo first county to utilize new veteran fellowship program

PUEBLO – Pueblo County is the first County government in the State of Colorado to utilize a new fellowship program to help veterans transition out of military service and into the public sector.
The Veterans Local Government Management Fellowship (VLGMF), funded 100-percent by the Department of Defense, is a 16 to 20-week program that provides transitioning service members with management training and hands-on experience in the local government environment with the goal of preparing them for smooth transitions into local government careers.

Program Aims to increase jobs, tax base and economy

PUEBLO – A new program with goals of increasing local jobs, the tax base and the local economy was revealed at Razmataz Tuesday, August 1, 2017.  The Spotlight on Local Business Program, was developed by the Pueblo County Buy Local Advisory Board as a public education campaign to encourage purchasing from Pueblo County independently owned and operated businesses.
