Pueblo, CO October 20, 2022 -Youth zero to five years old and families are invited to Pueblo’s 10th annual Healthy Halloween celebration from 9:00 a.m. – Noon on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at Praise Assembly of God, 2000 Troy Avenue, Pueblo, CO 81001. Halloween costumes are encouraged at this no cost event hosted by local nursing students to celebrate children while providing an event to play.

Healthy Halloween was started by community agencies that work with children who have special needs. The event is an opportunity for children with and without special needs to play together and interact. After the first three years of hosting the event, the founding community agencies realized they did not have the capacity to continue and reached out to CSU Pueblo nursing students to work with for planning.

“This event is to celebrate children,” exclaimed Lynn Procell, professor at the CSU Pueblo School of Nursing. Procell stated, “Healthy Halloween is very successful for children, the community, and allows future nursing students to experience working not only with the community but with families. Procell explained, “the students coordinate all areas of the annual Halloween celebration from games, non-candy treats, prizes, marketing, and inviting local organizations.”

“The family friendly Halloween event for kids five years old and younger is celebrating its 10th year in Pueblo,” Procell stated. Procell added, “this event allows nursing students to share a fun environment for kiddos and their families to learn about health and wellness while providing a healthy Halloween celebration in Pueblo.”

The celebration’s success over the past decade is in part due to partnerships with attending community partners
