IN THE STATE OF COLORADO, PROPERTY TAXES ARE COLLECTED ONE YEAR IN ARREARS, THE PROPERTY TAX LIEN AUTOMATICALLY ATTACHES TO THE PROPERTY ON JANUARY 1ST OF THE TAX YEAR AND BECOMES PAYABLE ON JANUARY 1ST OF THE FOLLOWING YEAR. IT IS THE PROPERTY THAT SECURES THE TAX LIEN AND THE LIEN FOLLOWS THE PROPERTY, NOT THE OWNER, UNTIL PAID IN FULL. FAILURE TO RECEIVE A TAX STATEMENT DOES NOT REMOVE ANY LIABILITY FOR THE TIMELY PAYMENT OF TAXES.

TAX STATEMENTS ARE MAILED OUT IN JANUARY OF EVERY YEAR TO THE OWNER AND ADDRESS OF RECORD ACCORDING TO THE COUNTY ASSESSOR.

EITHER CALL OR WRITE TO THE TREASURER’S OFFICE, (719) 583-6015. PUEBLO COUNTY TREASURER, 215 W. 10TH ST RM 110, PUEBLO CO 81003, A DUPLICATE STATEMENT CAN BE MAILED TO YOU.

THE TREASURER’S OFFICE ACCEPTS CHECKS AND MONEY ORDERS. DO NOT MAIL CASH. FOREIGN CHECKS ACCEPTED IF ISSUED IN US FUNDS AND DRAWN ON A UNITED STATES BANK. MAKE CHECKS PAYABLE TO THE PUEBLO COUNTY TREASURER. WRITE THE PARCEL NUMBER ON YOUR REMITTANCE AND SEND IN THE APPROPRIATE COUPON (S) TO PUEBLO COUNTY TREASURER, 215 W 10TH ST RM 110, PUEBLO, CO  81003. CERTIFIED FUNDS REQUIRED ON ALL TAX PAYMENTS MADE AFTER SEPTEMBER.

YOU MAY ALSO PAY YOUR PROPERTY TAXES ONLINE WITH EITHER A CREDIT CARD OR E-CHECK PAYMENT. CREDIT CARD AND E-CHECK PAYMENTS ARE ACCEPTED FOR CURRENT TAXES ONLY. THE SITE WILL DIRECT YOU THROUGH A STEP BY STEP PROCESS. PLEASE NOTE, THE BANK WILL CHARGE A $1.50 FEE FOR E-CHECK PAYMENT PER TRANSACTION OR 2.35% OF TOTAL FOR CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS.  THERE IS A FLAT RATE OF $3.95 FOR A VISA DEBIT CARD. WHEN PAYING ONLINE, IT IS SUGGESTED THAT YOU CHOOSE THE "PAY WITHOUT REGISTERING" OPTION.

CUSTOMERS PAYING IN PERSON MUST APPEAR ON OR BEFORE DUE DATES, INDIVIDUALS PAYING BY MAIL MUST HAVE PAYMENT POSTMARKED BY DUE DATE.

INTEREST CHARGES WILL BE ADDED THE 1ST DAY FOLLOWING EACH DEADLINE 

BY STATE LAW INTEREST OF 1% PER MONTH IS CHARGED AND PARTIAL MONTHS ARE CALCULATED AS A WHOLE MONTH. ADVERTISING FEES, LATE FILING FEES MAY BE CHARGED. ALL PAYMENTS MADE AFTER AUGUST WILL BE REQUIRED  IN CERTIFIED FUNDS. (MONEY ORDER, CASHIERS CHECK, WIRE TRANSFER)  CASH IS ALSO ACCEPTED ONLY IF PAID IN THE TREASURER'S OFFICE, NOT BY MAIL

THE ASSESSED VALUE MULTIPLIED BY THE MILL LEVY GENERATES THE TAX AMOUNT DUE. ONE MILL EQUALS $1 OF TAX FOR EACH 1,000 DOLLARS OF ASSESSED VALUE.

THE PROPER DOCUMENT MUST BE RECORDED IN THE COUNTY CLERK AND RECORDERS OFFICE, CONTACT THE COUNTY CLERK’S OFFICE AT (719) 583-6628 FOR THE FEE. COUNTY EMPLOYEES MAY NOT ASSIST IN COMPLETING THESE DOCUMENTS. CONTACT A PRIVATE ATTORNEY.

THE TREASURER IS MANDATED TO COLLECT PROPERTY TAXES. THE COUNTY ASSESSOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SETTING A VALUE ON THE PROPERTY, CONTACT THE ASSESSOR REGARDING VALUATION QUESTIONS AT (719) 583-6597. COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, SCHOOL BOARDS, CITY COUNCILS, DIRECTORS OF SPECIAL DISTRICT ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR RESPECTIVE MILL LEVIES.

BY LAW THE TREASURER IS REQUIRED TO MAIL TAX STATEMENTS TO THE ASSESSED OWNER. YOUR LENDING INSTITUTION WILL OBTAIN THE TAX AMOUNT DUE AND PAY THE TAXES. KEEP THE TAX STATEMENT FOR YOUR RECORDS.

YOUR CANCELLED CHECK WILL SERVE AS YOUR RECEIPT. IF YOU REQUIRE A RECEIPT PLEASE ASK FOR ONE AT TIME OF PAYMENT AND THERE IS NO COST TO YOU IN PERSON.  IF PAYING BY MAIL, PLEASE SEND A SELF ADDRESSED, STAMPED ENVELOPE WITH YOUR PAYMENT REQUESTING A RECEIPT BE MAILED.  DUPLICATE RECEIPTS AFTER ORIGINAL PAYMENT WILL BE PROVIDED FOR FEE OF $2.00 FOR CURRENT YEAR AND $5.00 FOR A PRIOR. PAYMENT FOR RECEIPTS MUST BE RECEIVED BEFORE A DUPLICATE  WILL BE MAILED. MAKE CHECKS PAYABLE TO THE PUEBLO COUNTY TREASURER.

IF TAXES ARE NOT PAID BY JUNE 15TH, A DELINQUENT BILL WILL BE MAILED IN JULY.  ALL CLASSIFICATIONS OF TAXES ARE HANDLED ACCORDING TO COLORADO REVISED STATUTES.  PLEASE CONTACT OUR OFFICE AT (719) 583-6015 FOR MORE SPECIFIC INFORMATION FOR YOUR DELINQUENT TAX.

 

CALL THE REDEMPTION DEPARTMENT AT (719) 583-6683 OR (719) 583-6689 AND THEY WILL QUOTE YOU A FIGURE THAT WILL INCLUDE ALL TAXES, INTEREST AND COSTS DUE FOR A SPECIFIC MONTH. ALL REDEMPTION PAYMENTS MUST BE PAID IN THE FORM OF CERTIFIED FUNDS.

IF YOU MOVE THE MANUFACTURED HOME WITHIN OR OUTSIDE OF PUEBLO COUNTY YOU MUST OBTAIN AN AUTHENTICATION AND A MOVING PERMIT FOR A $10 FEE. YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY ALL TAXES DUE AND CERTIFIED FUNDS ARE REQUIRED (CASH, MONEY ORDER OR CASHIER’S CHECK) PLEASE CONTACT (719) 583-6682 FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

IT IS A TAX ON FURNITURE, FIXTURES AND EQUIPMENT USED IN OPERATING A BUSINESS.

IF PERSONAL PROPERTY BECOMES DELINQUENT A DELINQUENT STATEMENT WILL BE MAILED IN JULY. ALL DELINQUENT ACCOUNTS ARE ADVERTISED IN A LOCAL NEWSPAPER THE MIDDLE OF SEPTEMBER AND THE DISTRAINT PROCESS CAN BEGIN OCTOBER 1ST. DISTRAINT IS THE SEIZING OF THE EQUIPMENT AND POSSIBLE SALE OF SUCH SEIZED EQUIPMENT FOR THE NON-PAYMENT OF TAXES. THE DISTRAINT IS SERVED BY THE SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT AND WILL CLOSE A BUSINESS UNTIL ALL TAXES ARE PAID. IF THE TAXES ARE NOT PAID THE SEIZED EQUIPMENT WILL SOLD AT PUBLIC AUCTION USUALLY WITHIN 10 DAYS OF SEIZURE.

ADOPTED IN THE NOVEMBER 2000 ELECTION, THIS ACT ESTABLISHED A HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION FOR SPECIFIED PERCENTAGE OF A LIMITED AMOUNT OF THE ACTUAL VALUE OF OWNER- OCCUPIED RESIDENTIAL REAL PROPERTY THAT IS THE PRIMARY RESIDENCE OF AN OWNER-OCCUPIER WHO IS SIXTY-FIVE YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER WHO HAS RESIDED IN SUCH PROPERTY FOR 10 YEARS OR LONGER.  DIRECT QUESTIONS TO (719) 583-6593.

A TAX CERTIFICATION IS PROCESSED BY THE TREASURER’S OFFICE AND CERTIFIES THE AMOUNT OF TAXES AND OR SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS DUE ON A PARCEL. THE FEE FOR A CERTIFICATE OF TAXES DUE IS $10 PER PARCEL.
