Plate Renewals

  •     Renewal notices are mailed the last business day of the month prior to expiration. Example: if your license plate month sticker is June, your notice will be mailed the last business day of May.
  •     Renewals can be processed the month before expiration.  
  •     There is a 30 day grace period on renewals.
  •     If you renew your license plates after the grace period, a late fee of $25 will be collected. Maxing out at $100.
  •     If you have moved within the last year and did not complete a change of address you may have not received your renewal notice.  
    •     In order to quickly change your address, visit mydmv.colorado.gov, or mail a request to update address along with vehicle information to the Pueblo Motor Vehicle Department.  
      •     Address changes made online take 24 hours to post.
  •     Proof of insurance may be required if your renewal notice indicates “

  •     Secure and Verifiable Identification required.
  •     Submit your payment along with your notice:
    •     ON LINE at mydmv.colorado.gov by credit card or E-check.
    •     BY MAIL with check/money order for exact amount due mailed to P.O. Box 555 or P.O. Box 878, Pueblo, Co 81002.
    •     Temporary or Out of State checks are unacceptable.
    •     DROP BOX – located at the information desk in office or Motor Vehicle front reception desk.

Q: Can I transfer my plates from my old vehicle to my new vehicle?

A: No only credit can be transferred as long as one owner is consistent on both registrations.  

 

Q: Will you take a credit card for payment on renewals?

A: Yes – We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. However, if mailing or dropping off a renewal check or money order is required for the exact amount due.

 

Q: Who do I make the check/money order payable to?

A: Pueblo County Clerk and Recorder.

 

Q: Why didn’t I get a renewal notice?

A: The address for the vehicle may be incorrect.
