What are PFAS chemicals? Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl substances are a large group of human-made chemicals that have been widely used in industry and consumer products since the 1940s.

Private well owners in Pueblo County are encouraged to have their water systems tested for PFAS in 2024.

Children ages 0-5 years, and people who are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding are more susceptible to health impacts from these chemicals.
