Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

This illustration, created at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), reveals ultrastructural morphology exhibited by coronaviruses. Note the spikes that adorn the outer surface of the virus, which impart the look of a corona surrounding the virion, when viewed electron microscopically.

Pueblo Department of Public Health and Environment (PDPHE) continues to closely monitor the developments of the COVID-19 outbreak and is in close and regular contact with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

PDPHE has been planning for and practicing response for situations like this for over 10 years. We have plans, partnerships, and resources in place to support the community and are working in close coordination with our regional public health partners, hospitals, and health care community.

While it is not clear how the outbreak will progress, residents and employers should begin to take small steps to prepare.
