Pueblo County Clerk & Recorder Addresses Potential Recall Costs
Pueblo, CO – The Pueblo County Clerk & Recorder is aware of recent speculation regarding the possible resignation of the sitting County Coroner, Brian Cotter. At this time, neither the Board of County Commissioners nor the County Clerk have received any formal notice of Mr. Cotter’s resignation.
On August 26, 2025, the County Clerk received a Notice of Intent to circulate a recall petition regarding County Coroner, Brian Cotter.
Next Steps in the Recall Process
The Recall Process requires that the County Clerk provide the recall committee with an estimate of the costs of conducting the recall election CRS § 1-12-108 (3.5).
- Estimated cost: $480,200.00
This estimate is based on historical costs that the Pueblo County Election Department has incurred in previous election cycles.
